Celles and the local region.
Perigord vert is a beautifully green and fertile region, where the main crops are sunflowers, corn and wheat. The local fields are ablaze with the stunning sight of sunflowers in summer months, wich is not to be missed The nearby village of Celles is located in the Ribéracois in the north-west of the Dordogne department. It is bordered in the south by the river Dronne and water flows in from Le Jalley, Le Tournevalude end Le Meyré.
Celles is 8 km away from Ribérac with convenient access to supermarkets, restaurants, cafés, shops, medical assistance, garages, theatre and cinema. Ribérac boasts the largest market in the Pericord on Friday morning and a farmers Market on Tuesday. It is also the heart of the Fois Gras region.
The beautiful local villages of Verteillac and Aubeterre sur Dronne are within a few miles with an excellent choice of English speaking restaurants and cafés. Bergerac airport is one hour away and Bordeaux and Limoges airports are within two hours. The TGV at Angoulême is also an hour away. Within easy reach are the renowned wine regions of Cognac, Bordeaux and Bergerac, where you can visit the local vineyards and arrange a tour with wine tasting.
